Having represented insurers for 22 years at Miami's oldest law firm, Brenton Ver Ploeg opened his own firm in January 1995. With careful attention to the avoidance of positional conflicts, the firm has made a deliberate transition from defense to plaintiff's practice in order to put our knowledge of the insurance industry to its highest and best use: representing individual and corporate policyholders.
In February 1999, he was joined by R. Hugh Lumpkin, formerly senior partner at Keith, Mack, Lewis, Cohen & Lumpkin, LLP concentrating in complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage and appellate representation.
Our attorneys are frequent speakers and authors in state and national forums on issues relating to insurance coverage and bad faith.
The firm's civil trial practice encompasses all aspects of civil litigation, including mediation, arbitration and appellate practice, in state and federal courts, concentrating on all types of insurance disputes, with particular emphasis in matters of insurance coverage and bad faith. In addition, we handle related complex commercial litigation as well as disputes involving ERISA, health law, and employment law. Although much of our practice involves large controversies, we handle a number of smaller matters as well.
Located in Miami, our representation extends throughout Florida and our clients are located across the U.S. Our attorneys are admitted in a number of other states and frequently monitor or handle litigation in other jurisdictions.
