Benjamin C. Hassebrock

Born and raised in central Iowa, Ben Hassebrock is a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa and a 2007 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.  Following law school, Ben began his litigation practice at a large Kansas City firm, where he represented both policyholders and insurers in various coverage disputes.  He joined Ver Ploeg & Marino in 2009, and has an active practice in both Miami and Philadelphia, fully dedicated to the representation of policyholders in all types of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation.  He has been recognized as a Rising Star since 2016 by Super Lawyers®.  The Rising Stars list recognizes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state.

Ben has developed a broad knowledge of the insurance industry and helped his clients obtain favorable results in many types of first and third-party insurance claims and bad faith actions, including commercial general liability, professional liability, commercial property (including business interruption), and homeowners’ property and liability claims.  He has significant experience in life and disability insurance matters, including claims arising under employer-sponsored group plans governed by ERISA, and assists clients in all phases of the claims process.

Ben is also regularly involved in the firm’s appellate practice at the state and federal levels.  He has drafted numerous amicus briefs advocating for policyholders’ rights and argued before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
