Families face uphill battle in Florida sinkhole insurance claims

Thu Dec 12th, 2013 on     Bad Faith Insurance,

Families in Florida might be growing extremely frustrated with insurance claims as many families are trying to seek compensation for repairs caused by sinkholes. Sinkholes aren’t uncommon in Florida, and many homeowners are facing a difficult time getting their problem resolved.

The run Citizens Property Insurance has been telling many people with sinkhole damage claims to their property that they must fix the problem in the way that Citizens determines is best. One family received thousands of dollars to help make cosmetic repairs to their home, but the company didn’t want to pay for a potential fix to the situation, hopefully stopping the home from sinking further into the ground.

Insurance companies are out to make money, and to do this, they sometimes deny legitimate claims or don’t fully follow the terms of a person’s policy. This can be extremely frustrating when a family needs to debate with the insurance company, putting their life on hold while repairs are discussed instead of actually completed.

When a homeowner is denied an insurance claim in Florida that should be covered under the policy that they purchased, the company might be denying their claim in bad faith. When a family’s home is threatened because of insurance bad faith, the family might be wise to speak with an attorney in Florida who understands laws governing insurance companies. They can help seek a fair settlement to a claim or help the homeowners protect their rights in court. It’s unfair for a company to put profits ahead of what is required under a policy.
